Getting Started Texting
Details
1. Take our Volunteer Training
Take our new volunteer training if you haven’t already done so.
2. Create a Spoke Account
Spoke is the website you’ll use to text people. If you have a Spoke account with another organization, you’ll still need to create a new account with us.
- Go to: https://mlabsvols.com/JoinSpoke
- Click the “SIGN UP” tab.
- Fill out and submit the form.

3. Read Campaign Toolkits
Check to see if there is a campaign toolkit for the current texting campaign. If there is a toolkit, please read it in full before you start texting. These are very important because they outline the special canned responses, tags, and opt out guidelines for that campaign.
4. Get Started Texting
You’re ready to go! Check for a current campaign, navigate to Spoke via the link in the toolkit, log into Spoke, and request some texts. Once your request has been approved, you can get started sending texts. If you get stuck, this Help Center answers many common questions. If you can’t find the answers here, you can get help on Slack.
5. Join Slack and Our Other Social Media Pages
The best place to learn about new texting campaigns and get help is our Slack. We also have a Facebook group you are more than welcome to join. Learn more about Slack and our Social Media pages here.
